Wet-bulb globe temperature

Wikipedia Overview

The wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is a measure of environmental heat as it affects humans and animals. Unlike a simple temperature measurement, WBGT accounts for four major environmental heat factors such as air temperature, humidity, radiant heat, and air movement. WBGT was first developed in the 1950s, during a campaign as a part of an effort to lower the amount of heat related illnesses and deaths during training for the US army and marine forces. Today, it is used by industrial hygienists, athletes, sporting events, and the military to determine appropriate exposure levels to high temperatures.
