Bernard Tissier de Mallerais was a French traditionalist Catholic cleric who served as a bishop of the Society of Saint Pius X from 1988 until his death in 2024. He was one of four men consecrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, incurring automatic excommunication and suspension. The excommunication was later lifted by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009. The SSPX denied the validity of the excommunications, citing canon law.
