On the evening of 25 July 2026, 21-year-old Lebanese-German Abdul Ballout drove a van into a crowd of pedestrians during Berlin Christopher Street Day, a pride celebration in the Tiergarten in central Berlin, Germany. One woman was killed and 29 people were injured, several critically. Ballout fled on foot, and a large-scale manhunt was launched. He was fatally shot the next day by police when they attempted to arrest him.
