It was the second round of the 2006 IRL IndyCar Series and the third running of the event. Hélio Castroneves, driving for Team Penske, won the 100-lap race. Chip Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon finished second, and Tony Kanaan came in third for Andretti Green Racing.
