The 2005 Wisconsin Badgers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Wisconsin–Madison as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their 16th and final year under head coach Barry Alvarez, the Badgers compiled a 10–3 record, finished in a four-way tie for third place in the Big Ten, and outscored opponents by a total of 446 to 309. Against ranked opponents, the Badgers defeated No. 14 Michigan and No. 22 Minnesota and lost to No. 10 Penn State. They concluded the season with a 24–10 victory over No. 7 Auburn in the Capital One Bowl. The Badgers were ranked No. 15 in the final AP and Coaches polls.
