A by-election to the Legislative Council was due to be held in Gibraltar on 6 December 1955 to fill the five elective seats left vacant by the resignation of the council's elected members during the 1955 Gibraltar constitutional crisis. The five who had resigned, four members of the Association for the Advancement of Civil Rights (AACR) and the independent Albert R. Isola, were the only candidates nominated for the five vacant seats, and all were returned unopposed in a walkover; the absence of a contest meant that no ballot was held.
